I hear you can buy Clean Laundry as a candle at Yankee Candle, and even Fresh Towels, so I can’t be the only one who feels immense comfort and satisfaction from the smell of fresh laundry.
When I lived in temperate countries, in winter, I would kneel in front of the dryer containing my clothes– didn’t matter where; at boarding school, university, when I was working but the laundry facilities were in the basement– and, the minute it finished its cycle, I would fling open the door and plunge my arms and face into the clean, crisp-dry laundry and inhale deeply. Ah, warmth! And that laundry powder smell!
I love that smell. It brings to mind bright slanted sunlight, summer, wind whipping clothes on the line, blue skies, the comforting drone of the tumbler.
